Wide Angle Free Lensing

It was such a beautiful day but so incredibly bright I wanted to take some pictures so I headed to Lowe's. Their garden center is blooming with flowers, ferns, trees and cacti that is what the perfect place to take pictures. As I'm walking around I do decide to buy something at the end, which I bought 3 plants. I walked around all the flowers practicing my 75-300mm lens and working with freelensing. I adore capturing insects or animals and while trying to shoot some wasps, one turned on me and made me flee QUICKLY. I am allergic to wasp stings so I ran away once I got my photo. Other than that small escapade, I enjoyed the weather and how the pictures turned out. The only thing I would change is having a darker and more Jurassic Park feel.

The shelf of forgotten plants
This shelf was nearly cleared of clearance plants and looked sad and forgotten

I just found a challenge of taking pictures in Hobby Lobby but my only problem is that I'm usually alone when I take pictures. I want to be able to take decent self portraits while alone. How do I take pictures of myself and not make them look like I'm holding my camera??? Obviously I would use a tripod but there are more complicated questions I have. Dark themed? High or low camera angle? Focused just right? These things are problems solo photographers have.
